Google In The OpenID Game

29 10 2008

Finally, congratulations! Google is in the openID arena! This should make for an interesting array of account management systems considering how many people use Gmail and various Google applications. Now for a few sites (Zoho, Plaxo, Buxfer) at least thats one more username password combo you can check off to have to remember, or forget…wait, forget, no, remember.

I had just updated my openID account and trid to see which services were open to what I needed. I even tried the openID with Yahoo and my Harvest account while testing the new Co-Op app. I figured it would be nice to aggregate account ID and passwords to help me get in, do work and get out of my various net life scenes. Now that Google is playing in this game, I think I will be more productive.

Check the overview at TechCrunch. Also see what John McCrea wrote about Google Data APIs and the “Open Stack.”

What do you think of openID and how wil it help you make your net life go a little smoother?
