What a great way to remind yourself that Social Media takes the big players and the small business and places them equally in front of the client/consumer. With just a day away from the start of the 2008 Olympic Games, major brands such as Coca-Cola and McDonald’s are reaching people through old and new avenues. For many of us, we will not have the luxury of visiting Beijing, china to see the sporting events that matter to us or view events we never even heard of! But I can tell you that with the power of Social Media, anyone with a virtual conscience will make it possible for others to participate and see what is happening via the beauty of the net. Who will use their cell phone and sites like Qik or Seesmic to get us video? Who will use Twitter or Facebook for Blackberry to update us on the status of events or the weather in Beijing?
Check out this great blog post that covers some of the ways Social Media is being used to market and “pimp out” the Olympic Games.
How do you plan to be part of the Olympics? How do you plan to drive your brand using Social Media tools during this phenomenal event?
